Marjoram – herb what do I use it for?
This plant belongs to the mint family. It loves warm well-drained sandy soil and most species will grow in a herb garden. Many hundreds of years ago Marjoram was drunk as a tea a tonic to pep you up for spring time. Its great for morning sickness, nerves, fears and depression. Also for any aches & pains. Also great for sore throats & relieves coughs. Majoram is also known as having aphrodisiac properties. The plant also contains an aromatic oil that is used in perfumery. My combination today for this herb is the common mushroom. As mushrooms contain chitin this is very indigestible substance for us humans. When preparing your mushrooms use the herb marjoram as it will make the mushrooms succulent and easy to digest. You can also add to salads, great sprinkled with sea salt on tomatoes. Add to soups. To make a tea add a heaped teaspon to a half-pint of water and then add honey to taste.
